This is how the egg cosy is sewn:
You need:
2 pieces of fabric cut to size 30 x 30 cm.
If you want to use the basket as a warming basket for the eggs, you will also need two pieces of 30 x 30 cm fleece.
Let's go:
Cut the two fabrics and, if necessary, two 30x30cm fleeces. Iron the fleece onto the back of the fabrics.
Place the fabrics right sides together and topstitch all around. Leave a small turnaround opening open.
Trim the seam allowance at the corners to help shape the corners after turning. Be careful not to cut into the seam.
Turn your sewn piece of fabric over, iron it smooth and close the turning opening.
The side of the fabric that will later be the bottom should now be on the outside. Fold your fabric square in half once and mark the centre left and right. Place these marked areas on top of each other and sew about 2 cm into the centre.
Now place the other two long sides on top of each other. This creates a triangular shape. Make sure it is centred so that the legs of the triangle created are the same length.
Now sew the other two sides in the middle, exactly at the centre that was sewn before. If you have used fleece, your piece of fabric may not fit under the presser foot. If this is the case, close the seam by hand with needle and thread.
Pull the corners apart and flatten the tip of the triangle to create a bottom. Fold the corners over and trim them.
