Making gingerbread man decoration pendants: Step-by-step instructions for a festive DIY decoration
Step 1: Glue the wooden balls together
To create the basis for your gingerbread man decoration pendant, glue together two drilled wooden balls with diameters of 30 mm and 35 mm. Make sure that the holes are on top of each other so that the hanging string can be threaded through later. Glue two more 15 mm wooden balls to the sides of the 30 mm wooden ball as arms.
Tip: Gluing is quicker if you use hot glue. Handicraft glue also works well, but takes a few seconds to press on and then a little time to dry.
Step 2: Painting the wooden balls
Now paint all the wooden balls with terracotta-coloured craft paint. Allow the paint to dry well and apply a second coat to achieve an opaque surface.
Step 3: Design the face
Next, design the face of the gingerbread man. Glue the wobbly eyes in the centre of the 35 mm ball. Add the eyebrows, mouth and eyelashes with a black fineliners. You can lightly sketch in these details with a pencil first.
Step 4: Apply the icing
Using a white acrylic marker or white acrylic paint, paint the icing on the head and a icing heart on the gingerbread man's belly. Here too, it is helpful to lightly outline the contours with a pencil beforehand.
Step 5: Attach the satin ribbon
Cut a piece of satin ribbon 30 cm long and another 50 cm long. Tie the shorter piece around the gingerbread man's neck as a bow or tie. The longer piece serves as a hanging cord. Double the ribbon, thread it through the holes in the wooden balls and knot it tightly at the bottom. Cut off any excess ends.
Step 6: Making earmuffs
Last but not least, make the earmuffs for your gingerbread man. Cut about 8 cm off the chenille wire and glue a pompom to each end. Attach the wire to the gingerbread man's head - and your cute gingerbread man decoration pendant is ready!
