A self-made lantern is something very special. This lantern is not only great for the lantern procession, but can also be hung up as a great decoration in the children's room and then gives off a beautiful light with a string of lights or an LED tea light for an enchanting atmosphere.
This is how you make the lantern:
First paint the base and lid of the lantern with black craft paint. Let the paint dry.
Now cut the cardboard for the body. You will need a cardboard blank measuring 50 x 21 cm.
Print out our free templates. Transfer them to the cardboard blank and cut out the motifs. Cover the back of the motifs with transparent paper so that the light can shine through the moon and stars later. You will need about two A4 sheets of tracing paper for this.
Glue all the parts of the lantern together.
Finally, insert the lantern bracket. Now you can light the lantern as you wish. You have the choice of lighting the lantern classically with the candle holder and a candle or you can choose a chain of lights or an LED tea light. For a lantern parade, the advantage of a battery-operated tea light or chain of lights is that they cannot go out in the wind and that there is no risk of fire.
Please never leave candles burning unattended!
