Garden seat cushion

Treat yourself to new cushions for your garden bench! Our polyester coated cotton fabrics are ideal for outdoors. The sewn hotel closure allows the foam seat cushions to be conveniently inserted and removed for later washing.

How to succeed the seat cushions for the garden bench

The idea consists of 4 seat cushions in the format 35 x 35 cm. Before cutting, you should wash the fabric once, because fabrics generally shrink a bit when washed for the first time. Download the cutting instructions for your sewing project.

For each pillow, you will need one 37 x 37 cm front fabric cut, two 37 x 23 cm fabric cuts for the back of the pillow, and four 37 x 4.5 cm fabric cuts for the edges of the pillow (including seam allowance). Cut the fabrics using the download instructions and at the same time cut 8 pieces of 50 cm each from the gum.

Things to know about the fabric selection
We have sewn the cushions with coated cotton fabrics. Due to the polyacrylic coating, these fabrics are dirt and water repellent on the surface, somewhat firmer to the touch. However, you can also coat any fabric yourself by coating it with TexWax. The already sold out blue floral fabric in our animation was therefore replaced by us in the material list by an alternative fabric without coating.

Sew front

The first step is to sew the four edges of the cushion to the front of the cushion. Now take two gums, fold them in half and baste each into the short center of a single seat cushion edge. Sew all 4 corners together.

Sew hotel clasp

Now fold and sew the 2 cm seam allowance of the two blanks for the back. Both back blanks are first sewn opposite each other to two of the edges and finally to the two remaining edges. The pillow can now be easily flipped through the resulting opening in the pillow back.

Cut a foam pillow and insert it into the finished pillow through the hotel closure opening.
