These beautiful flowers made of crepe paper create a magical atmosphere by the tea light inside. The flowers are made in no time and a real eye-catcher on any windowsill.
Decorative flowers from crepe paper
Cut out about 7 to 8 pieces from the crepe paper per flower, measuring about 10 cm x 3 cm. Make sure that the "grain" of the crepe runs along the long side. Now round off both corners on one side of the crepe paper.
After that, you can already begin to gently pull the crepe petals into shape so that there is a slight curve in the center of each petal toward the rounded side, where it tapers in wider.
Now coat the individual crepe paper strips with the impregnating fluid (TexWax). Then the fluid must be melted into the paper with heat. It is best to use a hot air dryer for this. (Alternatively, you can use a hair dryer, but it may not reach the necessary temperature). During the process, the crepe paper will become slightly darker and, more importantly, more transparent. This is the effect we want to achieve and use for our tea lights. If necessary, you can now stretch it a little more.
Now place the terracotta saucers with the opening facing down and paint them with craft paint to match the flowers. Now glue the individual petals to the edge with hot glue. Let the leaves overlap here to create an even more realistic look.
Finally, you can conceal the finish on the terracotta saucer with some may green satin ribbon. Now you can place the tea light jars in the center. Caution: always make sure that the petals do not protrude above the flame! Or use non-hazardous LED tea lights for the tea light jars.
