Casting of the bird statues
The little birds (each approx. length 5.5 cm x height 7 cm) are a classic example of mold casting. You use a latex casting mold for this. First, make a mold holder out of a sturdy cardboard box by cutting a round cutout into it and hanging the casting mold in it.
You will need about 3 tablespoons of Keraflott relief casting compound per bird. Mix the powder with water in a container to form a creamy paste (about 3 parts powder to one part water). Refer to the package instructions. Add color concentrate and stir everything well. Then pour the mass into the latex casting mold. After about 30 minutes, the casting can be removed from the mold for further air drying.
What amount of color concentrate should be added?
25 drops of sunny yellow with 5 drops of red (for the color orange) or 15 drops of berry results in a small bird in a stronger color.
For the birds in pastel of this idea, 5 drops of purple, 5 drops of petrol or 5 drops of sun yellow were used.
Paint the white cardboard frame with antique white paint.
